Wherever you go with your Plystream you will be met with astounded people
all eager to know more about it. You can personalize your Plystream any way
you want. You do not have to varnish it, you could paint in any number of
ways and colours. You could even use it as a very cool catering van.
Woodenwidget will plant 5 trees on your behalf if you buy any of our plans.
The Plystream not only looks fabulous, those lovely curves serve to help the
Plystream slip through the air with ease. Even at speed the Plystream is
never flustered. It is stable and easy to tow and because it only weighs 300
kilos it's so light that you will almost forget you are towing it. The
Plystream is one of the lightest caravans on the road and just about any car
can easily tow it.
The bright and spacious interior consists of two settee bunks wide enough to
sleep on or by simply dropping in the seat backs, a very wide double bed can
quickly be made. There is a good sized table which bolts to the front panel.
At the rear of the Slidavan there is a kitchen area with room enough for a
small hob and sink. The other side is left open so you can decide how to fit
it out. It could be used for a shower or simply as a place to stow extra
things when camping.
The Plystream is a fully insulated and very lightweight and aerodynamic two
berth 3 metre long caravan designed to fit on a small unbraked trailer with
a gross capacity of 500 kilos. The Plystream
weighs just 300 kilos so can be towed by the smallest of cars. It has six
foot of headroom throughout, two wide single berths or one large double. It
has rear loading to allow the easy carrying of long items such as boats or
bicycles. Thanks to its symmetrical design it is an easy task to change any
of the dimensions to suit any trailer.
The step by step illustrated instructions walk you through the entire build
process. They include a lot of further information on all aspects of the
build, from the materials you need and how to find and modify them. Unlike a
traditional caravan, the Plystream is constructed using the insulating layer
as a structural element. This creates an extremely light but very strong
structure. You do not need much space to build a Plystream as it is built on
to the trailer. The Plystream is a bit harder to build than our other
designs but still only requires very simple basic tools.
The Plystream plans are metric but allow for the use of Imperial
materials. During the build you will learn how to laminate wood, make
templates and use epoxy resin and much more. If you buy all new parts
to build your Slidavan it may cost about 3000 Euros which is a fraction of
the cost of other small caravans available to buy today. The costs can
be brought down considerably by using second hand parts.
