There are some
fabulous tools out there today, here are some of the better ones. It
always makes sense to buy the best as they will do a better job and
last longer. There
are also a few tips for modifying tools to suit your needs
The Fein Super
cut is a very
clever tool with a huge array of blades. It is like a
grinder but the action of the blades is not rotary, it oscillates back
and forth at very
high speed. It is pretty much the same tool that is used in hospitals
to remove casts.
The Festo Linear
Sander Clever stuff.
It sands with the grain of the wood and you
can fit or make different bases for it so you can even sand inside
mouldings. Like
Fein, Festo make very high quality tools. No they are not cheap but the
best things
rarely are.
Modify
your belt sander for concave shapes Here's a clever
mod for a belt
sander that allows you to sand concave forms
Using
a chainsaw to cut lead. Yes it does
work but expect to sharpen the
chains pretty often!
Making a
scarf
in a plank using a jig and an electric plane
Brush Mate
is a very clever paint brush storage system. When you are done painting,
simply pop the brush in the box and put the lid on. The paint on the brush
will not harden thanks to a chemical vapour system. Even weeks later it will
still be soft and ready for use. Saves time and money.
